My Conversion Story

Nudity between like minded persons in social, mixed gender settings develops a level of trust and helps them to be more honest with each other. So much of today’s culture is littered with dishonesty, misdeeds and distrust that when we find a space that eschews bad behavior and upholds self respect, respect for other people’s bodies and respect for the earth, it is a God-send.  There are many physical and psychological benefits to going clothes free. For example, it improves brain functioning, digestive actions and strengthens the immune system. In fact, all the body systems are improved when we go clothes-free.

With nudity, you realize that your can quickly and easily access your freedom. Your transformation from mundane to sublime begins immediately.  You will awaken to your true potential as you connect with the natural surroundings in your nude state. Your healing begins immediately and  increases the longer you stay naked.  

I currently live in the Caribbean country of Jamaica. For all it’s gorgeous beauty in the landscape there is still much work to be done here regarding body freedom and body positivity.  I was born here and while my family members weren’t prudish, we just simply never spoke of nudism or nakedness. 

In 2006, I was looking at some internet pictures when one photo caught my attention. The caption was, “Young nudist girl walking by the pond” it was the first time I had heard the term “nudist”. I had no idea there were persons in the world who choose to live that way and I didn’t understand why. I was shell shocked. I needed to know more about it so I spent much time researching on the Internet.

Some time later I found myself with some time alone at home and decided to try out this new phenomenon. I needed to know what my reaction would be and how I would handle it. I did a little housework and cleaned the rooms in my bare state. It felt great. Next was sleeping without clothes.

Fast forward to 2008 when I had my first social nudist experience. Some nudism is practiced in Jamaica but  really only in high end resorts on the north of the island and there is a massive gulf that exists between the nudist offerings for visitors to the island and the local attitudes towards and practice of nudism. A few resorts offer nude recreation, sports and  dining.  Some of them even have small reef islands where nudism is practiced openly. All of this is far removed from the day to day reality of the local populace.

I sauntered into one such resort one warm, sunny afternoon. I was on a fact finding mission. I wanted to know what my reaction would be to seeing other nudists. It was one of my most surreal experiences leaving the changing room, walking to the sandy beach and for the first time, seeing a sea of nudists of all colors, shapes and sizes. Some were dancing, some playing games, some on surf boards or doing water recreation, all having a good time.  I quickly found a spot and settled into what was singularly one of my most unique experiences. I struck up conversations easily with both genders. Some offered me beer (which I don’t drink) and others gave me first hand knowledge about the finer points of Nudim. 

All in all it was an excellent afternoon. I made new friends and had a ball. That was the beginning of many nudist adventures. 

There are rules and guidelines that govern Naturist/nudist behavior at social nudist events and violators/ bad behaving persons are escorted out of the venue. Generally most concerns of newbie nudists are addressed by the various clubs and nudist groups around the world, and if there are any further questions, there’s always a channel to have those queries dealt with.
